Justin Gatlin is an American sprinter. This sportsman tested positive for banned medications in 2006 and served a 4-year ban. It was determined that he had administrated testosterone. Since his 4-year ban is over, this athlete was waiting to be accepted back. But it seems that this athlete doesn’t know the laws related to the return to the world of sports. An athlete that has served a certain ban because of administration of performance-enhancing medications doesn’t return automatically. He\She has to admit publicly that it was a great mistake; he\she should apologize “with tears in his\her eyes” that he\she has applied performance-enhancing preparations.
But this American sportsperson wants to do things his way. Justin Gatlin claimed that he had never applied banned drugs intentionally. He claimed that he had tested positive for steroids because a vindictive masseuse had applied a testosterone cream during a massage. In fact this excuse was taken from a Lance Armstrong’s book. Justin Gatlin has not changed the Laurence’s excuse at all in about 5 years.
Since this American sprinter didn’t admit using steroids publicly, sports writers interviewed him many times. Justin Gatlin was asked whether he was going to admit administrating prohibited medications. Once it has been made clear that the American sprinter had applied forbidden medicines knowingly. It was during an interview made by a New York Times reporter. Justin Gatlin said that he would admit taking anabolic steroids intentionally in exchange for a hug! Could you imagine it? The reporter told the athlete that people would hug him more, if he admits. Nevertheless, Gatlin remained “invincible”, asking: “If I say it right now, are you gonna give me a hug?”
Since he has already the support of the USA Track and Field (USATF), it is beleived that he will never admit taking banned medicines. It is not clear how he has got the support because Jill Greer, the spokesperson for the USATF, points out that USATF doesn’t support sportspersons who have ever taken steroids for performance-enhancing effects. Such sportspersons have to be ignored, according to USATF. The case connected with Justin Gatlin shows that the affirmation of the spokesperson isn’t practically respected.
