Yousef and his colleagues have conducted a research which involved almost 200 kids of 2-17 years. These children were cured with inhaled steroids during 3 months. No any child who smoked, had symptoms of chronic asthma or lung pathology was implicated in the study.
Patients had to let know about their side results per telephone within 72 hours. Thus, it was reported about cough during nighttime, wheeze, shortness of breath and intolerance for exercises. Every response was evaluated according to a score that was ranged from 0 to 4. 0 meant no any effect; 4 meant the most enhanced severity level.
Only 4 kids out of 82 the children that were given high dosages of inhaled corticosteroids had to take systemic corticosteroids. 2 of them were given doubled quantities; others 2 were administering the dosage that was more increased by 8 times than a usual one.
According to the results of the study, effectiveness of the preparations, placebo effect, supervision of experts and treatment of persons during early stages of asthma exacerbation were responsible for getting positive results.
