According to the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald”, outlaw motorcycle gangs are responsible for spread of illegal steroid use in Australia. The gangs receive high profit and decreased risks.
The detective Nick Bingham has claimed that New South Wales Police doesn’t focus on investigation related to usage of steroids but anabolic steroids become targets of investigations, when outlaw motorcycle gangs are arrested for violation of other laws.
According to Nick Bingham, however New South Wales police officers don’t raid houses of gangs for steroids, they find them, when searches for weapons and psychostimulant drugs are conducted.
Bingham has noticed that they ordinarily seize such amounts of steroids from motorcycle gangs which are only for personal use. Quantities of other products which are commonly found in possession of gangs are much greater than those of steroids.
Nick Bingham has claimed that criminals prefer administering anabolic steroids in order to build threatening muscular bodies. They desire to look big and powerful.
However the detective Nick Bingham assures that gangs have steroids just for personal usage, the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” doesn’t agree with this statement. It is reported that motorcycle gangs are implicated in smuggling of steroids.
Although gyms are claimed to be the most important sources of steroids for bodybuilders, it is stated by “The Sydney Morning Herald” that some gyms have close connections with motorcycle gangs. The Herald claims that many seizures made by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service are related closely to distribution of steroids by motorcycle gangs.
According to affirmations of Australian Customs, mail seizures of steroids have been enhanced greatly in comparison with past years.
Over 2, 000 seizures were made in 2009-2010 and over 5, 000 seizures of steroids were recorded in 2010-2011.
The most of seizures were linked with personal application of steroids smuggled by bodybuilders.
